OPEC Fund for Lumbini

KATHMANDU: The Lumbini Connectivity and Infrastructure Improvement Development Project and OPEC Fund for International Development has signed on a agreement of a loan assistance of US$ 15 million (Rs. 1109.2 million) to the Government of Nepal for the implementation of South Asian Tourism Infrastructure Development Project.

The agreement to this effect was signed between Lal Shankar Ghimire, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Finance and Suleiman J. Al-Herbish, Director General of OPEC Fund for International Development today.

Basically the loan will be utilized to upgrade the regional airport in to the international standard and to develop infrastructure in the World Heritage Site. It focuses on the empowerment of the institutional capacity of Lumbini Development Trust and the local community.
