World fraternities are celebrating centennial International Women’s Day today with theme of “Equal access, training and science and technology-Pathway to decent work for women.” UN Women Director says now is the time to make the promise of equality a reality. Gender Equality must be a lived reality.

Alliance for Aid Monitor Nepal with immense please congratulate all women and people on this occasion and wishes to make Gender Equality a reality. AAMN appeals government and other stakeholders to make contribution for Gender-sensitive ecology.

UN Commission on Status of Women adopted “Financing of Gender Equality and Empowerment of Women” as a prime agenda since 2008. Up on which Nepal was obligated and initiated Gender Responsive Budget the same year. Along with GRB Nepal Government has introduced other specific interventions for women. But equality and priorities are not adequately mainstreamed on national development plans and budgets. In Nepal, the grass roots women have had little voice and influence in such processes. Only during the preparation of the Tenth Plan/PRSP (2002-2007) some consultation with women's groups from national to the regional level took place. However, they have had little influence on the budgeting process.

AAMN believes on equity and inclusion remains a priority agenda not only in planning but also in implementation. AAMN advocates on active participation of women’s group from policy to grassroots at national to regional level to influence the national policies and plans. Only women’s voice being heard and addressed by government or non-government agencies, development effectiveness can take the speed as desired, as is said in Nepalese proverb: “Educate a man you will educate one, educate a woman you will educate the whole family”

In Solidarity!
Happy Int’l Women’s Day.
